Getting Started with Ionic
This guide will help to setup Ionic 2 for the new machine. Ionic is dependent on other libraries which mean’s we need to install them as well.
To setup Ionic 2 :
- Install the Node Packager (NPM) from NodeJs
- Use npm to install Cordova
- Get the Ionic package with npm
- Favourite Code Editor
- Andriod SDK for PC
- First Demo App
- Build App
- Run App on Emulator

Once you see your first app on your mobile, I bet you will be jumping with joy and thanking Ionic for the just simple framework for us.
If you are new to Ionic then it is better if you learn the basics of Angular 2. As Ionic is completely built on Angular 2. All the syntax, structure and libraries are mostly referring from the Angular 4.

Ionic 2 apps are created and developed primarily through the Ionic command line utility (the “CLI”), and use Cordova to build and deploy as a native app. This means we need to install a few utilities to get developing
Ionic 2 uses HTML5 to render the output on the mobile device. This will help to write once and deploy on many devices irrespective of iOS/Andriod/Windows. Ionic 2 compiles the code into mobile specific output but we just need to write once using HTML5. So cool!
With Angular 4, Typescript and Cordova this is the best of class in the industry. It is really fun to learn and develop app faster!
Ionic 2 tap into Cordova libraries for the native features of phone like camera and others using the plugins which we can just install and run.
